As part of the
Triumph Trans-AmeriCan Charity
Drive 2009,
we are hosting a charity Show & Shine to celebrate John Macartney's drive through Vancouver.
John is on a 10,000+ mile drive across USA and Canada in a 1973 Triumph Stag, to raise money for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorders) related charities. The Canadian Charity being supported is the Anxiety Disorders Association of Canada and all money raised will be to support them.
We will be hosting an "ALL MARQUES" car show in Vancouver on September 12, 2009 at Trev Deeley Motorcycles at 1875 Boundary Road (in Vancouver at 2nd Avenue and Boundary Road).
Details and registration info can be found at the show page.
This will be a non-judged Show & Shine, open to all British Cars (old and newer), as well as vintage British motorcycles. The show starts at 10:30 AM and goes until 3:00 PM in the afternoon. Cost will be $10 per car or truck, $5 per motorcycle, and an extra $10 for those wanting to post a "For Sale Sign", with all money going to charity. A poster for this show can be with a pdf viewer.
There will be a barbeque, with all proceeds from the
sales, going to our charity. There will also be draw prizes and info packs for
registrant. Trev Deely's will have an exhibition of British Motorcycles of the
year in their on-site museum, with admission by
donation.
John Macartney will be on site, with the newly restored, 1973 Triumph Stag, which will have covered over 8,000 miles by the time it gets to Vancouver. John worked for Standard-Triumph in the early days, and has lots of knowledge about Triumphs and the British car industry. John's father also worked for Standard-Triumph, and John has written a book called "In the Shadow of my Father" which covers history of the company from 1921 to 1973.
There will also be information on PTSD and Anxiety Disorders of Canada, with chances to donate to the charity and get a receipt for income tax deductions.
There will be a formal ceremony at 12:00 Noon, officially welcoming John to Vancouver and applying a special badge on the Triumph to commemorate the event.
